Preview:

High End No Noise PC´s are the only PCs , where it makes sense to use a High End sound system with.

Foreword:

The Teufel Motiv 1 is a 6 channel full activ Sourround Sound System , which could be perfect to use with a PC but of course also with a SACD or DVD player , or a reciever. Therefor we will test it with a Home Theater PC and a stand alone SACD or DVD player

Technical explanations:
The advantage with a full activ system is , that the components (amplifier and loudspeaker) can be optimal co-ordinated to work with each other. Standard amplifiers usually has a large tolerance area (f.e. 4-16 ohms), a full activ loudspeaker system has a very small tolerance area which is optmized to the loudspeakers of its system.

The system is available in various version. Our testsystem includes:
2 Dipol Loudspeaker with 15meters cable
3 Satellite Loudspeakers (Front and Center)
1 Activ subwoofer
1 Fullset of cables
1 Remote control
1 Set a wall mounts for every loudspeaker
and a manual

Installation:

the assembling is very easy , the cables are conneted quickly with the color marked terminals. For our test we used professional DAB Audio speaker cable (from recording studios) next to High end cinch cable (monster cable)

Visual Quality:

The overall quality of the speakers is very good. the screwable terminals and the the provided cinch cables have a good impression. Only the fixed mount cables on the dipole rear speaker could be replaced by screwables terminals like on the satellites..

Specialties:

350 watt sinus is a impressive power , which also needs a massiv heatsink for its amplifier. The teufel subwoofer build the amplifiers heatsink in front of the loudspeaker .Click picture to zoom

Dipole (left) and Front /Center (right) are optimal coordinated for each other for best audio results.

Home cinema audio test

Roominstallation:

Livingroom 25 square meters , frontspeaker insatlled at a heigh of 115 cm , center 55 cm , subwoofer 115m .diploe speakers 160 cm heigh and 75 cm away from the backwall, DAP High End speaker cable , dipole and subwoofer original cables , Sony DVP NS-705V SACD and DVD player

Audiotest AMBRA:

First we tested the system with the DVD AMBRA “Child of the Universe”. This dvd is a unique of pictures and sound. It contains  modern classical music and digital sound effects .

Result:

Its unbelivable what kind of dynamic sound the teufel system produces.All speakers work very harmonicly together. Crossover frequenzies from satellite and dipole speakers to the subwoofer are absolutly fine. Power volume is more than enough to get your neightbors to enemys.

Test Star Wars Episode I:

In this test the teufel systen one more shows its capacities from the best side. Very good sound for such a compact speaker system , which doesnt have to hide in front of bigger and more expensive systems.pure home cinema feeling is guaranted

Extremtest High End Audio PC-Sounds Chris Hülsbeck / Turrican :

If you read Retro Games webside , then you will learn about the legendary Turrican soundtrack from Chris Hüls. Many sites say its the best game soundtrack ever made. This genius also composed sountracks for the games Giana Sisters , Katakis , Tunnel B1 and many more. Today he works for companys like Lucasfilm , Sony , Nintendo and others. For this test we used the DDD recorded Soundtrack Turrican (1990-1993)

Result:

One more the Teufel systen shows a very good and clear sound , however the limitations of the surround system is noticable here. The base reached its limits and sounded a bit dry and weak. Because of its technical limitations , like the compact constructed case where the subwoofer is build in , it is near impossible to create a better base. For high end , a more expensive an better system is necessary.

First conclusion for Home cinema and Audio tests

The teufel motiv 1 full activ surround systen is more than only good , its superb. A compact and easy to install system for a fair price of 1490 Euros (currently approx 1800 US $) . Its easily can beat some more expensive systems. Cinema feeling is guaranteed and its power could turn your nice neighbor into your enemy.

how do we continue:

We are about to test a Eagles DVD , the racing game Need for Speed Underground (THX certificated) for that we will connect the System to a High End PC. Our currently PC souround speaker system (Cambridge DTT 3500), probably won´t have the slightest chance against the Teufel speakers.

Comparing:

For optimal test results we compared the system with a Bose acousticmas 10 and Onkyo SC9600
