APlus Clio Jr.

Conclusion

The APlus Clio Jr is a visually nice designed case which is build for modders and design fans. However this has has a bigger potencial than first expected , thank to the good air circulation. So the case is also intresting for silent fans. For only 65 Euro this case is recommended in anyway.
 

Foreword:

To create a noiseless PC , you need a very expensive heatpipe solution or a clever combination of fanless components. many people often try to damp a case , which can cause heat jam.This is a devils circle between Silents and heat.

The solution seems to be a case in air design. On the Cebit 2004 (we wrote about) maxpoit should such a prototyp of such a case , named A plus Clio jr , which match in someway the requierements of air design. Actually this case is also good for overclockers or modders. But we still take a look at it.

Scope of delivery:

The case comes in a stable box with screws and some extras like a picture manual.

The special extra is a golden aluminium HD cooler , and a a blue LED fan integrated in the sidewall.

The enlightend feed are only in the bigger version.

First Impressions:

The 3D design of the sidewall matches the requierements of airdesigns in anyway. To bad thats the case only on the mainboard side , the upperside , the Bottom and the left side doesnt have airholes.

In the middle of the hole wall is a blue LED fan mounted , which happily runs silent

The front contains a display which shows the temperatur.

 Aufbau und Verarbeitung:

Basically the Aplus Clio is constructet in compact dimensions , but still offers much space inside. The 3D design with the Airholes in the sidewall is an eyecatcher and usuful at the same time.

The processing is good and doesn´t show disadvantages. The metal inside the case is not sharp and also the frontdoor is good cosable. Because most parts are made out of plastic , the lifetime is hard to guess , however the door connections are stable in opposite to some cheap cases.

Beside of that all cables are good hidden.

The outside:

Like said the 3D design is an eyecatcher. But not only the side door , also the front got a nice designed. tThere is the logo with a blue LED behind it and the temperatur display. All enlightend in blue together with the fan integrated in the sidewall.The Feed like you can find on the manufactors webpage unfortunately are only available with the bigger version.

On the cases upper side you can find the connectors for USB , Firewire and Audio.

Inside:

Practical are the Plasticlocks which are mounted at the drive bay. Installing of CD-ROMs ect is very easy and works without screws.

At moment many manufactors are offering such “easy drive installing” solution. But its importand to know that with those tool free solutions can be problems during installing of special parts like Drive damping, Displays ect.

Then there are 2 removable HD bays in the case and 2 Additional fans can be installed

Functionality:

Design and Functionality are combined very good in this case , and of course its always depending on the user taste. Usually a design case belongs on the desk and not under , and the fronconnectors depening on the useres requierements are more or less practicable.

The hole wall offers good air circualtion. To bad that those holes are not in every wall in the case..

A disadvantage that we found (or not found) was the missing mainboard track.

Quality:

The processing quality should be compared with a high end case, which cost the double or triple price. If you look on the price of this case the the quality is good and better than many others in this price range.
