Conclusion
The Coolermaster Supersilent 450W matched our expecting. The package inclduded next the the 20/24v adaptor also the wattmeter. the specific molex plugs a good for somebody who often change parts. the cm psu transfers the heat efficiently and silent and even under heavy usage it only gets a little warm. Price/usage relation is with EUR 99,00 good.

Thanks/ Award:
we thank cm for fast and easy delivering of the testsample.
the cm psu was the product which created a disscussion of a new awrd system at teschke.de. the complete background of our new award you can find here. of course we cannot
change all 300 reviews to the new awardsystem , however this psu which created the discussion earns the new award in anyway.
the cm earns our award because of its good price rehabillity and the good processing quality.
Foreword:
The theme low noise is getting popular. So far we mostly testet pc eqipment which usually showed the maximun possible of low noise components. But those systems with heatpipes and special constructions for an
efficient low noise heat transfer are usually pretty expensive and not affordable for many users.
because of the fact that the fans are the noisiest components of a PC , we recommend to use only one silent fan for the whole system.
Because of that we are testing the Coolermaster Supersilent here.
We are about to build a refernce Midsize PC ,where the PSU Fan should cool the whole system. This PC should be affordable by everybody. If the CM fits in this profile ,
this test will show.
Processing:
the Coolermaster Supersilent
works with a 120mm LED Fan , and it comes with a analog wattmeter for the 3,5" bay. The PSU is already equipped with a ATX 2.0 compatible Plug ( the plug is bigger with additional connectors for 12/5/3,3v/Ground/2 SATA). An adaptor for the old ATX 1,2 is also included.
"true power" means that the PSU can deliver 450watts all the time , Coolermaster
said. True Power, Real Power, Peak Power, Combined Power, ST Power, Short Time Power, Max Power a.s.o. are the word which confuse many users. To bad that there isn´t a fix norm.
fact is that even a mega high end PC with many optical drives and 8 HDs ,all PCI slots used , needs definitiv less than 300W real power.
4 screws and a multilanguage manual completes the package. the NT is in nice black color and its good processed. The 120mm fan at the bottom side with its blue LEDs creates a smile in the casemodders face.
Installation:
Like expectet no installing problems occured , because in opposite to fanless PSUs no heatsink exist , and it match exactly the atx specifications. Also the Wattmeter fits exactly in the 3,5 bay.
Display
the Display is created more for the modder community than a serious use to get the real power consumption of a system, because its too unexactly.
First immpressions, practical test:
In opposite to our expactations , the noise level stayed after switching on the system in an acceptable area. We are normally accustomed in fanless PSUs , but times change and the 120mm fan
delivers its advantages.
The Coolermaster
shows only small voltage differences inthe 3,3v area during heavy usage on the agp slot , with use of a high end 3D card , but they are 100% in the tolerable area. With a standart graphic card we experienst no disturbings , so this PSU is for non-3D use a first class choice.
We thought a lot of a optimal system configuration. here the Coolermaster
psu not only cools the PSU , it also cools the whole case and cpu. We used an old NCU1000 for the CPU , and the 120mm fan of the psu right above , creates an air flow which cools the cpu pretty good.A complete system test for a beginner and midclass computer we will publish soon.
Voltage stability:
All Voltage values in our tests where ok , not even one failed. The 3D Mark test showed a tiny differences in the 3,3V line , because of the massive usage of the AGP Slot. But its nothing to b e worried
about , because we experienced it with near all PSU before. Only the Silentmaxx had pefect values , but not comparable , because its more expensive and another class.
Temperatures:
we measuring and testing under 22°C roomtemperatur. Idle use showed only 27°C air temperatur at the psu , 26°C in the psu case and only 24,4°C at the cpu heatsink. during the 3D mark loop we saw that the temperatures stayed constand
after 20 mins , and only went up to 31°C psu air , 29°C psu case and 26,6°C at the cpu heatsink. Those values aren´t possible with an fanless PSU. the big advantage here is that the temperaturs of the whole system stayed in a low secure
level.
Noise:
honestly said , we don´t have many possibillitys to compare , because we usually only review fanless PSUs. we think it doesn´t make sense to compare this one with a fanless psu.
The Coolermaster
starts after switching on with a low noise level , but its level raises unter system usage. but even under high speed the noise level is for us in an tolerable level. at least our test system can´t be called as noise less , but as silent.
