Superflower 500 Watt

Conclusion:

The Superflower  500W is a good PSU with many specialtys. Not only the 140mm fan , but also the LED lights and the 3 Modes are a nice thing. the isolated powercable for the graphic card is a highlight on the market. Voltagestabillity is good and the power plus the overload of plugs is enough for every high end system. 89 EURO is a good price with thta this psu not only find friends under Modders.

Structure and processing:

First you see the oversize 140mm fan , which is intend to prevent the PSU form overheating.

The processing looks clean , and the requiered space is not that big like the fanless PSUs need , and the fan has enough space to cool all of the components.

An eyecatcher are some really long cables inside a srounded by a web of nylonstrings. Also positiv are the airhole on the back side causing good air circulation. Otherwise the PSU is completely closed on every side , so that the air oly flow out of the pc. Not good to see on the bad pictures is the high gloss reflection color whih the psu is painted with.

4 blue LED and a blue acryl fan make modding friends happy. what makes us happy isn´t only a giant fan , it is the switch where you can set the fan to 3 modes. The high/Loe/auto should be good for all applications.

Installation and switch on:

Like expected , no insatlling problems occured , because of the non existing outside heatsink and the standart ATX formfactor the psu is made of. The lenght of the cables are good for every miditower , however theys could be to short in some bigtowers.If using the 20/24 aptaptor the atx cable which is 45cm gets additional 12cm in lenght.

 

first impression , practial attributes:

The noise level after switching on stay in a quiet order , the manufactors 25db noise the psu only reach in the turbo mode. The silent mode you barely can hear it.
The Superflower 500 Watt show on our voltagemeter little distorsions in the 3,3v line , but this isn´t  anything to discuss.If the practical test also shows this distorsion we will see.
On the PSU outside you can find the switch for the 3 working Modes , where are indicated with 3 different colored LEDs. Blue means AUTO mode , Green silent and the red one shows that the PSU is in the Turbo mode.
The 140mm fan is always enlighted  with the LED , and in the Turbo mode the LEDs are even shining lighter. A specialty is the extra red colored plug for the graphic card and has next to the nylon sourrounding a distorsion filter.

Specialtys:

Voltage distorsions and temperatur is no reason to worry. But with 19DB the Superflower isn´t the most quiet one. The PSU contains the lowest temperatures and with it also causes case ventilation. Even until power test with benchmarks the PSU temperatures never went over 28°C. One more specialty is that the fan stays on after switching of the computer for about 5 minutes.

Voltagestabillity:

All voltage values stayed in every test on the good side and no distorsions occured whichis worth to mention. In all 3D mark tests shows only tiny 3,3v distorsions.
